Polish up your dancing shoes! You'll need them tonight, when the Baghdaddies hit the Talbot with their inimitable blend of gypsy jazz, roots, ska, Balkan beat, world dance, and punk! While all of these descriptions are true, the overriding influence is Balkan gypsy folk'wedding music-a genre which induces dance fever in even the most indolent onlookers.
The Baghdaddies have dubbed their irresistible musical stew 'Toon Tone'. Their first album, Last Tango in Babylon, was released in 1998 on Gaz's Rockin' Records-and it was produced by none other than our old friend and local hero Gaz (Trojans) Mayall! Their current CD, The Fabulous Sound of Toon Tone features a heady mix of studio and live material, the latter captured in front of an ecstatic crowd at Glastonbury Festival.
After five years on the road, the Baghdaddies' invigorating 'Toon Tone', together with the heavily persuasive western influences and the band's dynamic live improvisations, ensure that their sound remains powerful, exciting, and unique. Whether appearing in front of 50,000 New Year revellers, or busking on high streets among unsuspecting passers-by, the Baghdaddies generate smiles, dance, and fun for all. This is 'real dance music for the real person'.

Review
Friday brought us the wonderful Baghdaddies. This irresistable band drew the largest crowd of the Festival and, as promised, they really did generate 'smiles, dance and fun for all'. Balkan gypsy dance music rubs shoulders with jazz (hey, that's funny, how come that didn't put you off?), ska, world dance and other loosely associated genres in a uniquely engaging brew that had the dance-floor seething from the get-go. In an ideal world, these guys would have been the perfect opening-night Festival act, but as it was, we featured the two liveliest bands on consecutive nights.
